E
fter vår första natt på Hampton Inn Portage, så är det 9 mil via Chicago till Six Flags Great America.

Här har man byggt en alldeles ny vatten park i år att komplettera dom 40 åkattraktioner varav 12 bergochdalbanor.

Parkens historia börjar med projektering 1972 av Marriott Corporation  att bygga en park i Florida, men valet föll på Gurnee i staten Illinois.


American Eagle den röda vagnen framåt den blå bakåt i dropet som är 6 meter djupare än höjden på banan

1974 började man bygga parken och den invigdes med ett tiotal attraktioner den 29:e maj 1976.

Den 23:e maj 1981 öppnar man värdens högsta trä bana, American Eagle en 39 meter hög racer med ett högsta drop på 45 meter. Sedan 2000 kör man det ena tåget baklänges.

ix Flags köper parken i maj 1984.
Shockwave öppnar den 3:e juni 1988 som värdens högsta Roller Coaster.

Här kan man roa sig med alla attraktioner och i vatten parken ett gäng timmar innan kosan styrs tillbaka mot Hampton Inn Portage för vår sista natt i Amerika för denna gång.

På vägen hem eller på vår sista dag tar vi en tur igenom Chicago för att få se lite av den gamla gangster staden.

Modellen kallas för Giant Inverted Boomerang och det finns bara 3 till världen.

This multi-story interactive waterplay area will feature nearly 500 water gadgets, eight water slides, an "erupting" volcano and three enormous buckets that periodically drench guests with thousands of gallons of water.

The entrance to this dazzling maze of twisting slides, shipwrecks, and thatch-roofed canopies is Skull Tower, a 66-foot walk-up structure from which two serpentine slides originate. Dubbed Skull Tower because of the six-foot skull that greets visitors from atop the structure, the tower will be topped with an eight-foot bucket that douses guests every 10 minutes with more than 1,100 gallons of water.
